Description
Glimepiride Glimepiride is the oral hypoglycemic drug of the class III generation sulphonyl urea. It is a very potent sulphonyl urea with long duration of action.
Structural Formula:
1-[[p-[2-(3-ethyl-4-methyl-2-oxo-3-pyrroline-1-carboxamido) ethyl] phenyl] sulfonyl]-3-(trans-4-methylcyclohexyl) urea.
Special Precautions:
Hypoglycaemia, alcohol not to be taken. When initiating combination therapy, the risks of hypoglycemia, its symptoms and treatment, and conditions that predispose to its development should be explained to patients and responsible family members.
