Sweet orange

The sweet orange constitutes one of the world's most popular and recognizable fruit crops. Sweet oranges are citrus fruits (citrus spp. ), which are regarded as high sources of vitamin c (ascorbic acid) and other fruit acids.
a fruit tree which can reach 12 m in height, the sweet orange tree belongs to the rutaceae family. Its branches are thorny and the summit rounded. Present throughout the year, the small, waxy white flowers form bouquets. When ripe the orange has a sweet and fragrant flavour.

the orange tree originated in south-east asia. The greeks cultivated it in portugal and took oranges to be golden apples. Sweet orange peel extract has toning properties. It may be combined with a pulp extract, rich in aha fruit acids and polysaccharides, with hydrating properties. The essential oil, derived from cold pressing of the zest, is used for its energising properties and its fresh and reinvigorating perfume.

today, oranges are primarily eaten fresh or prepared as frozen juice concentrate. The byproducts of juice making (the pulp, rind and seed) are utilized for cattle feed and molasses (for alcohol or feed) as well as flavorings, perfumes, pharmaceuticals and soap.
